Oklahoma Insurance Continuing Education (CE) Courses

State Proctor/Monitor Requirements:

• Exams are required to be monitored by a disinterested third party for Oklahoma insurance continuing education.

OK Insurance Continuing Education Online Renewal Requirements:

• Producers: Must complete sixteen (16) hours of continuing education, to include two (2) hours of ethics and two (2) hours of required electives, every two years in conjunction with license renewal for Oklahoma insurance CE.
• Adjusters: 12 CE hours of adjuster-specific CE are required biennially
• Customer Service Reps: 12 CE hours including 2 hours in Ethics and Electives are required biennially

State Specific (required) Courses:

• Courses must be approved for lines of insurance for which license is held for Oklahoma insurance CE.
• Licensees except Adjusters must complete 2 hours in ethics, but not more than 4 hours, and 2 hours in Legislative Updates as part of their basic requirement.
• Long Term Care Training Requirement: Long-term care agents must complete a minimum 8-hour training course on long-term care including long-term care partnership by July 14, 2009. Agents licensed after July 14, 2008 or agents that would like to begin selling LTC on or after July 14, 2008, must complete an initial 8-hour course before representing LTC insurance, all long- term care agents must complete a 4-hour ongoing long-term care training course every 24 months thereafter.
• Medicare Advantage Requirement: Eight (8) additional hours of approved CE is now required for producers who sell, solicit, or negotiate Medicare Advantage or Medicare Private Fee-for-Service products and plans. Producers must complete eight hours of approved study on these products and plans within their renewal cycle, in addition to the standard 16 hour CE requirement in Oklahoma. Producers with a license renewal date set for 7/31/2008 or 08/31/2008 will have until 10/30/2008 to obtain the required eight hours before being considered "late” and incurring a double renewal fee.
• Flood Training Requirement - All Oklahoma licensed resident insurance producers who sell federal flood insurance policies must satisfy the minimum training and education requirements by completing a one-time course related to the NFIP, which may be approved for three hours of continuing education credit by the Oklahoma Insurance Department.
