Kentucky Insurance Continuing Education (CE) Courses

State Proctor/Monitor Requirements:

• Exams are NOT required to be monitored for Kentucky insurance continuing education.

KY Insurance Continuing Education Online Renewal Requirements:

• 24 hours every 2 years, 3 hours of which must be in Ethics.

State Specific (required) Courses:

• Of the 24 hours, at least 6 hours must be completed in one of the lines of authority for which agent is licensed. Of the 24 hours, 3 hours must be in ethics. The remaining hours may be taken in any state approved course for Kentucky insurance CE.
• All required continuing education hours may be completed through self-study or correspondence courses.
• Long Term Care Training Requirement: As of July 1st 2009, a producer with a line of authority of life or health currently authorized or who becomes authorized in the future to sell, solicit, or negotiate policies issued under Kentucky’s Long Term Care Insurance Partnership Program must complete a one time 8 hour initial training course prior to selling, soliciting, or negotiating a long term care partnership policy.
• Flood Training Requirement: Property agents selling flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program must complete a one-time 3 hour course on flood insurance.

Kentucky Insurance CE License Renewal Timelines:

• Last day of the birth month odd or even year.
